Land Ho!

Okay - two posts for one day...so sue me

Name:Nate
Scripture: Psalm 27:13
" I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living."

OAP:  Code Ecru did some bloggin' on this one...and talked about being patient to see goodness.  This is probably in my top 5 verses bar none.  I love this promise.  David was confident that there was goodness to be found.  Like a lookout in a crow's nest, watching the horizon...the comfort of "land ho!" is seeing God's goodness.  It reminds me of a poem I wrote almost 10 years ago.

I wish I could slow my mind
to see in between the ticks and tocks
and taste all the bitter and sweet that bring flavor

I wish I could stop the world
to just walk around for a while
and see the joy and pain of a billion different faces

I wish that I could just grow
while everything was stopped
because then maybe I could see a littler truer
and live a little more selfless

But I can't stop time
So I ask You to speed me
Speed my heart and mind
Speak from Your infinite depth
to my shallow soul

Teach me to live beyond the obstacle of flesh
and the weakness of my faith...to be wise in the moments I have

And most of all, reassure me daily
of your unending love I often neglect
Because I find it easier to let nature kill me slowly,
than to quickly die to myself.
