Scripture: Acts 7:23-25
"But when he [Moses] was approaching the age of forty, it entered his mind to visit his brethren, the sons of Israel. And when he saw one of them being treated unjustly, he defended him and took vengeance for the oppressed by striking down the Egyptian. And he supposed (was thinking) that his brethren understood that God was granting them deliverance through him; but they did not understand"
OAP: It goes on to say that as a result of his action, Moses fled into the wilderness for another 40 years. It wasn't until Moses was eighty years old that God calls him to come back and actually lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses then goes on to lead the Israelites for 40 years before he dies at the ripe old age of 120!!!

He realized at 40 what his purpose and calling was for God...and he was eager. But it wasn't God's timing yet. Most of us struggle just to find out what God's purpose for us is, let alone be willing to wait a third of our life to do it. God's time scale is significantly different from ours.
So where are you? If we adapt Moses' age to today's average life span (say 80 years). A third of your life is 27 years. Then wait until you're 54 before being able to live that purpose. Wow...
I'm turning 30. I've been thinking a lot about what I've accomplished so far in my life, and the goals for the next 30 years. I've thought about my desire to go back to school to study, and maybe become a prof of some kind. I wonder...Is that my purpose? How long until it is God's timing?
Moses' is a lesson of patience. I have no doubt Moses learned things with the Midianites that was crucial to his future leading Israel. But I can understand why he would ask "why me?" when God called him in the burning bush. "That was 40 years ago God. I figured I just had it wrong and wasn't the guy for the job. Find someone else."
So Nate a message to yourself - "Stay attentive to the Lord. Be willing to wait on His timeline, and do not doubt when He calls."
Thank you for this reminder from Your Word.
