Name: Josh
Scripture: Leviticus 25
OAP: Man im bummed i missed out on Day in Monterey today cause of flippin SAT testing...but yeah. This chapter is all about the Sabbath Years and Jubilee Years and how they're to be treated as a time of rejoice, rest, and consecration of the land to God. That sounds so cool, a whole year of thanking God and just kicking back. I like how they let the lands rest too, to show God it is His and let it rejuvenate. But wait, what if the old owner of your house comes a knockin, and says "hey i want my house back." You pretty much have to give it to him, unless you live in a walled city or something. Weird, i thought to myself, wouldn't that unnerve the people forced to move out, and kind of disrupt their resting? But then it made sense, that its not our land to own, but that God lets us share it in a communist kind of way. So back in that time you would let the owner have the land/house it back, and have God continue to provide for you. That's awesome how dependent on God they were. Israel seems like a neat place.
Prayer: God, communism doesn't work in a human society, and we all know it. But help make me a good communist anyways.
