Take that, Satan!

Name:Scott
Scripture:James 1:2
"Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy."
OAP:
What does this look like? This verse is in total  opposition to the mindset of a human being. There are a couple of things that happen when hard times come a-knockin'. We try and blame someone for the troubles or source of unhappiness. When that doesn't work, we blame ourselves. After that, we try and play hide-and-seek with our troubles, and we try and find many different hiding spots. Society tells us that we have the right to be angry, sad, and depressed.
So what does it look like to find joy in the midst of our troubles? How can good come from bad?
I'm looking at about a month of troubles traveling at me. School. Millie. Family. Church responsibilities. SF. College. I'm going to be tempted to give up, to be angry and treat other people with disdain because of it.
Jesus, thank you for this verse. Thank you for giving me the most important piece of advice I could need, right when I need it. Please help me to keep my head up. Help me to see relationships, words, situations, through your eyes.  Help me to find joy in tough situations so I may share that joy with others. Intercede go God on my behalf, Jesus, and pled my case. Satan, in the name of Jesus Christ, the risen king, I DEFY YOU! You are not allowed to interfere in my life or in any situations I encounter that may make me or someone else stumble. Do your thing, Jesus.

I love this...a few months back I came up against this idea that the Bible never tells us that suffering is bad (I may have even blogged it somewhere). It's fascinating what comes out of pain and obstacles. I think I would be a weak, uninteresting, two-dimensional person if I had never had any trials. I pray you feel God close to you in this up coming month.
