Scripture:Proverbs 23:12
"Commit yourself to instruction; listen carefully to words of knowledge."
OAP: The title of this section of verses is "sayings of the wise." Looking over them, they seem like random wise sayings that aren't relevant to each other. Weird.
Verse 12 is a tough calling. What exactly was Solomon saying here? NLT sometimes summarizes too vaguely, and Blue Letter Bible isn't working right now. Nothing is coming to mind right now as to what it could mean, other than to study the bible.
I'm not good at studying. I'm awful at it. I do not do it for tests, or papers. Im' going to be screwed for college. And I have no more incentive to study the Bible that intensely. I guess I feel like it isn't worth my time?
Jesus, I want to know you more. Please help me to want to study the word so I can have a deeper and more full understanding of you.

I think you are thinking too much of a bookish kind of studying. I think God wants us to recognize Him in other people. He wants you to look inside yourself and and "study" your heart and where it's at. This verse calls you to listen and be open...not pick up a book and read.
Well yes, but the context I was reading it in was as formal study. I am studying the discipline of Study in one of my classes, and this verse was listed for a journal we had to do about "The Call to Study." So yes, I was looking at it in terms of exegetical study. I agree that you are also right.
